Jeff is out of the state for some training so it's just Noah and I this week at home. We've had to get creative with our activities to pass the time, but having an extra day of daycare has really helped not get too bogged down with stress. We've ventured outside in the cold for Noah first time sledding. He was a little worried at first but after watching me go down the hill he wanted a try too. We took a walk around the neighborhood and noticed no one else was outside. It was nice to enjoy the quiet while I pulled Noah in the sled.
We went out to a Target and Applebees date which was great. Noah helped me pick out some valentines day presents and chose some new dinner plates. Of course the picked the most pink plate possible. He was such a good boy at Applebees. Tried to open the door for me, told me he needed hugs and kisses and lots of cuddles while we waited for our food. We were seated at a two person booth which kind of scary since he can get in and out whenever, but he stayed in his seat the whole time, ate all his food and we laughed and talked. He's just such a big boy now.
We've got one more day 'till daddy gets home and lucky for me Noah has daycare tomorrow while I have a day off so I'll be catching up on lots of laundry, cleaning and hopefully getting some dinner ready. Most likely taking a nap since I'm sick again for the millionth time in the last three months. These allergies are killing me and I've got to get better before I have to do single mom all over again next week. I'm exhausted and I'm ready for summer to be here already. #momlife

We're Back From Mexico
Jeff and I had such a great time in Mexico this last week. It's so nice to be able to take time away from life and enjoy each others company without work and kids to worry about. We left Noah with Jeff's mom for the week. We're lucky she can get away and spend time with him while we were gone. For the most part, I've never felt guilty leaving Noah while Jeff and I get away. I feel every family who can, should. It's such a good way to reconnect and relax.
Although it was pretty wet and rainy most of the time we were there, we did get to enjoy one full day of sun and beach time which was really all I needed. The rest of the time we ate way too much and spent most of the day not doing much which is exactly what we wanted to accomplish. We did a couple of activities here and there, most memorable was paddle-boarding which was so much fun. I'm convinced we need one for this summer on the lake. It was so much fun.
We had some great long walks on the beach looking at other resorts and enjoying our alone time. We're lucky that resorts just weren't that busy this time of the year so for the most part we were all alone. One of the days we made sure to get to downtown Playa Del Carmen. We took a taxi to the city and walked around for a couple of hours. There are so many things to see and it was nice to do some window shopping. I loved looking at the condos they have tucked back behind the shops usually covered by jungle. It's such a different way of living. If we would have won the Powerball we might have bought a little condo of our own. (we did not by the way =)
Our resort had some amazing food which we literally ate every couple of hours. We ordered room service in the morning, then went to breakfast, had some snacks and then lunch and more snacks, and then dinner. We ate dessert with every meal. That's the way vacations should be, right?
One of the days the rain finally cleared and we made our way out to the beach. They had the best secluded spots surrounded by foliage which was great because you felt like you were all by yourself... except for the server which kept offering us drinks which was amazing. The beach was quiet and smelled great. Anyone love the smell of the beach as much as I do? A salty beach always has a special place in my heart.
We we're glad though by the time we came home. We really missed Noah. I might have even shed a few tears mid way through missing him. A successful trip all around. We can't wait to go back and we would definitely recommend this resort.

Our Christmas
I've officially been slacking over here and I'm not even mad about it. With two weeks off work and all the holidays in between we've been busy at home enjoying life and making memories. Our Christmas was great as we hosted a ton of family for pretty much all Christmas week. We had people in and out of the house with all our bedrooms full most of the time. We ate way too much food and opened up tons of presents.
I honestly was so busy just being home and having fun I rarely even took out my camera to capture it all. The only bad news of the holiday season... I was sick the whole time still recovering from my nasty nasal and ear infection and other things. Not really the way I wanted to spend the holiday but it was sure nice to have everyone around to help out with Noah and really just keep me company and I'm sure I would have otherwise stayed home from work doing nothing.
We also started potty training! Horray! We're happy to say we're about 75% trained and Noah is really doing great. I've been making a huge deal about wearing no more diapers at Christmas for about a month now so Noah knew it was coming. We had a couple of misses at the beginning but he's really got it down. With the exception of diapers at bed time we've made it through a full basketball game and a trip to see my mom diaper free and mostly accident free. Here is to success in the coming weeks. We'll really be able to see what this kid is capable of when he goes back to school tomorrow. =)
I think the best part of no more diapers is how goofy Noah has been. He's so silly and likes to make us laugh by giving himself wedgies and pulling his underwear up "really high past my bewy button".
So hopefully now that we're back at work I'll do a little better at updating. We're excited for only one more week here and then we're off to Mexico for some parent alone time. I'm so ready!
