Our Weekend: The Cold has Arrived

Geez! It's cold here in Michigan! I made Jeff turn the heat on the last couple of days because I've been waking up to the house being around 60 degrees.  I've brought out the leggings and slipper boots and I've been living in this super cute cozy sweater all weekend long. I finally was able to put pants on Noah and luckily the ones that were long last winter fit like they should now.  I doubt they'll make it 'till the end of winter but at least we've got some for this weird transition time.

Lucky for me, Noah slept pretty good this weekend, 'till about eight, and since I'm used to waking up so much earlier for work I got to "sleep in" and get up and make breakfast before Noah did.  It's nice to get things ready ahead of time. I also premade a whole bunch of pancakes and froze them so they were ready to go the rest of the week. Noah, who loves to be in the kitchen we me all day long, could not keep his little paws away and stuffed whole pancakes in the mouth. As many as he could fit.

I finally got around to doing some fall shopping for Noah, and Old Navy and Gap did not disappoint.  We always get the best deals shopping online. I live for comfy and therefore that's all I think about for Noah, and these sweats are the best.  I can't stand the look of onesies for toddlers.  I love when Noah looks all grown up in normals clothes, so tees for me are the best thing for playtime.  This stripped one and this baseball tee will look super cute with his new jeans too!

We spent the rest of the weekend scavenging for the last batch of tomatoes in the garden before I pull the plants up and of course helping daddy mow the lawn.  This cold, rainy weather has really made things sprout rather fast!

Fall Is Here For Us...

Summer is not technically over, but for our family it may as well be.  School starts again at our local colleges and since both Jeff and I both work for them our busy season has begun.  We'll be working forty plus hours and opposite shifts.  No more sister-in-law day care since she also will be going back to school, which means we're now single parents half the time.  It's not all that bad but it certainly makes you appreciate how great summer is.

Noah is still loving the outdoors.  We've spent so much time out in the back yard running around. He's mesmerized by the hose and loves to drag it around. Firefighter in the future?  Not sure how Jeff would feel about that. Our garden finally seems to have sprouted.  Much later than last year but alas it's here.  Noah loves picking the tomatoes of the plant and using his one top tooth to bite through.  He just loves tomatoes.

After waiting all summer and thinking my broccoli plant would never produce despite the largeness I found there is actually something resembling broccoli in there!  I was so excited!  The most pumped one could be for broccoli, which I'm sure Noah will refuse to eat.

So far, we've gotten a ton of lettuce and arugula and the tomatoes are just starting to turn red. In a couple weeks we'll be swimming in tomatoes and we wont know what to do with them!  So here's to the end of summer.  You've been good to us! Bring on the fall.  It may be busy but we still have bonfires, cooler weather for cuter clothes and fall boots and maybe Noah's first football game. Who knows!

Discovering Nature as a Toddler

I miss Noah more and more as I leave for work in the morning.  I just know how much fun he is right now and I love watching him as he finds new things.  The way he figures out how cups stack or what milk feels like between his fingers.  It's the little things we don't think about that he's really starting to figure out. 

After dinner last night we headed out to the backyard to walk around and hang out.  We were pretty late to plant the garden this year so it's just really starting to take of.  The lettuce just half came up.  I think the birds night have found some of the seed.  I'm too lazy to care this year.  We also planted some broccoli for the first time this year.  I'm pretty sure the bunnies found those plants.  As usual I'm just counting on the tomatoes and arugula for Jeff.  Those are always sure wins.  Noah didn't seem to mind that our garden was lame though.  He picked at the lettuce and arugula and tried to eat it.  Can't say I blame him though; it does look pretty good.

It wasn't long until Noah moved on from the garden so I made him head towards the back of the yard.  It looks so much fuller than in previous years.  Much better I will say.  Noah loved the little daisies and even picked one for me.  Then he picked most of the others ones and stomped on them so who knows...  maybe he doesn't like flowers. =)

Once Noah heard Daddy on the deck it was all over for me.  The kid is obsessed with Jeff.  What can I say.  He is a pretty good dad. 

Over the Fourth, Noah discovered the steps and he's been trying to master them ever since.  He's got the going up pretty well but I think his legs are a little too short for going down.  That doesn't stop him though.  He steps right of one step to the next like it's no big deal and he just hopes someone is there to catch him.

It was soon time for bath and a cute little nakey baby running around.  You'd think he would have been warn out by all the fun but I'm pretty sure he had another two good hours if we would have let him. Crazy kid.

Week 36

Jeff and I had a great long weekend together.  I got a ton of stuff done around the house.  The nursery is completely finished.  Absolutely nothing to do.  Feels good to have it done.  I also did major cleaning in the entire house.  The basement was a complete mess.  I never go down there so I kinda just "forget" about it but I figured since we're gonna have guests in the near future I might as well clean it up now.  

Also finished planting the garden. (and the herb garden) This year I did the bare minimum since I don't know how much gardening I'm really going to have time to do.  I planted some tomatoes, peppers, lettuce and arugula.  Enough for Jeff to have some salads throughout the summer.

We also had a fun dinner and drive date on Saturday.  We went to our fave restaurant, six.one.six. and I got to dress up and wear heels which doesn't happen that often now that I'm so pregnant I don't feel like I can do anything fun. Every time we go out I rather be in pjs or sweats.

We had a great meal as usual. The waiter even noticed that I was pregnant and gave us a free dessert at the end.  It was a great way to finish the dinner. They always treat us so nice there.

 We ended the night by driving Jeffs half Ironman bike route in Ada/Caledonia.  It was fun to just hold hands and take a look at the scenery, but let me tell you, it is really far.  I think when you hear that someone is going to bike 56 miles it sounds like a lot but it feels like a lot more when you actually drive it and then realize someone is going to bike that same amount.  Only three more weeks to the half Ironman. We're almost there!  Cross your fingers I don't go into labor that day 'cause if I do it's gonna be pretty crappy... and that's if we even find Jeff on the course.  I might be delivering this baby with my mom... if she makes it either! Yikes!

Anywho! Onto the weekly update!

• How far along?: 36 Weeks
  
• Baby is the size of a: Honeydew melon. (17.2- to 18.7-inch and 4.2- to 5.8lbs)
• Total weight gain/loss: Up 21 lbs so right on track for 25 total.  Pretty excited I've been able to keep it under control this pregnancy.
• Symptoms: Heartburn at night is pretty bad.  But still pretty "limber" as my nurse pointed out this week as I jumped of the table to go to the bathroom. =)
• Sleep: Up and down, some nights are great, some are not.  With the warmer weather my allergies have started to kick in and that's making it worse.  Lots of coughing at night bc of the drainage issue in my throat.  I'll have to ask the Dr. about it later this week to see what I can take.
• What I miss: Having some moscato with dinner when we eat outside.  It really just makes summer so much better.
• Movement: He's all over the place.  I don't even think he bothers to sleep anymore. 
• Maternity Clothes: Excited for the next pregnancy so I can buy more of it.
• Labor Signs: Nada.
• Best Moment of the Week:  Only a pound up!  Woo!  Actually .8 so even better.
• What I’m excited about/looking forward to: Sleeping better.  I know I'm not going to sleep more, but when I do sleep it would be nice to be out completely and not wake up because I feel like crap.

Our Final Harvest

For it being the first year of a home garden, I must admit I think we did pretty good.  We ended up with tons of peppers, lots of different kinds of lettuce, tomatoes and finally some carrots.  

It froze outside, and it snowed, and it was kinda time to let the garden go.  We pulled the last of the tiny carrots and threw away all the dead plants, but now it's ready for another year!  We can't wait to try some other foods out in the garden.  Personally, I'm rooting for some strawberries. =) Yumm.
