Summer Walks

One of my favorite things lately, now that it's getting warmer is going on our after dinner walks around the street.  Peyton is so chill and just hangs out and Noah rides his bike riding way faster than he should and giving me heart attacks as he turns the corners.  Sometimes late at night, when the kids are tired I swear that's when they get the whiny face going and I feel like they need the most attention.  Being outside though makes everything better and re-sets their mood so we're ready to take baths and do our night time routine.

This weekend, although not after dinner, but after nap, we headed out as a family to GV for a walk.  That is by far the best place to walk around.   Now that is summer it's just slow enough that there aren't students everywhere and Noah can ride around without running into somebody.   I love taking pictures of the kids there too.  The trees and flowers are the best around the spring and summer and I snap away while they just hang out.  We get to talk about the buildings and show Noah where we lived while on campus.  We talk about what we want to learn when we go to college or look at the bugs and leaves on the ground.  So much to do!  But mostly, we get out energy our and it makes a great way to settle into a nap or into bed and that my friends, is easy parenting at it's best. ...as Jeff would say.

GVSU Enrichment Dinner 2016

A little late, but here it goes anyway.  Every year we support Grand Valley by donating, and in return they always invite us to an awesome dinner thanking all the donors for all they do.  They do fun presentations about what's going on in the college and acknowledge a couple of really big supporters for different things.  We love to attend every year and this is our fifth? year going... It's so much fun to dress up and hang out with our friends, eat good food, and most years get some free drinks.   Of course this is the second year I was pregnant while attending but still super fun.  Thankfully I wasn't alone this year as two other ladies were also pregnant too so we could all share in the misery of finding a black tie dress and not drinking nearly as much as we would have loved.

GVSU Enrichment Dinner 2015

What a fun year this was.  This was our fifth year attending and we did it up by surprising our friends with a limo. They also surprised me by managing to get us all seated at the same table.  Even better.   Not that I don't still enjoy the night talking to strangers during dinner, but always nice when you can hang out with your friends.

The enrichment dinner is put on to highlight some of the big donors and volunteers of Grand Valley and get motivated for another year of giving.  Also, really to thank everyone for giving back.  We love that we get to dress up and have a good time with our friends.  It's really like a grown up prom but classier.  And the food is always amazing so you really can't pass that up.

GVSU Enrichment Dinner 2013

So excited to post this.  Finally getting back to a semi-routine after having our baby!  I'll post more on that later, but just a quick update on last week Wednesday where we went to the GVSU Enrichment Dinner for the third year in a row.  It's such a fun time to get dressed up!  This year though we were pregnant which of course made the dress picking out a little more difficult.
Like last year I rented my dress from Renttherunway.com and it worked out great.  Obviously the selection of non-maternity  dresses that fit a 38 week belly was rather low, (not really their fault) but I think the end result turned out great.  I highly recommend this website!
So here is my last preggo pic at 38weeks 3days and a picture of the wonderful night!

GVSU Enrichment Dinner 2012

I was finally able to put my gold inspiration look to good use last night when my husband and I went to the GVSU enrichment dinner.  This was out second time and after seeing all the beautiful gowns of last year I decided to step it up.  Of course, when I went searching for a dress I found absolutely nothing.  I freaked out all the way home just hoping that I would have a little black dress in the closet that I could at least throw on since I waited to the very last minute to even consider shopping for this year.
When I got home, instead of going straight to my closet I decided to give the internet one quick search hoping I could find a killer dress that would ship overnight....with no luck, but I did come across a website called renttherenway.com.

This is where I found my dress!  I was so lucky that they had my size and lucky for me they ship super fast.  They are designer dresses at a really affordable price to rent.  When you're done with the dress you just put it in your pre-paid shipping envelope and return it.  No dry cleaning or anything! Super easy!

I got many complements on my dress throughout the night and we had a very entertaining evening. =)
