Three Weeks Old

Three weeks old already and it seems like he's been around way longer!  I'm finally getting used to getting up randomly throughout the night even though I still hate it.  Somehow though, six hours of sleep isn't nearly as bad and I had imagined.  Next week we'll be taking our first family trip for the fourth.  I'm a little nervous how he's going to handle it since he really has no schedule.
I'm hoping for steady sleeping and for him not to feed every two hours like the last couple of days during his growth spurt.

  • How old is Noah?: 3 Weeks
  • Noah is how big?: 9lb
  • Sleep: 3-4 hours during the night... sleeps most of the day with lots of feedings every couple of hours. Currently sleeping soundly after letting Mom have a total of 10 Hours of sleep last night! "hooray!"
  • Milestones: A lot more awake time now in between sleep periods and he just likes to hang out and watch things.  Likes to move his limbs a lot and his legs are getting super strong!
  • Baby "Win" of the Week:  Big time poop all over the wall. First thing in the morning. What you don't see in this picture is the runny poo all of the wall and down to the baseboards that I had to clean.  Bummer.

Gotta watch out for the farts, you never know whats gonna come out.  Noah 2 - M&D 0
  • What Mom misses: A schedule....and going to work!  Work is so much easier than taking care of a baby!
  • Weigh Progress: Down to 131.  One more pound left.  Now just waiting a couple more weeks to start some Jillian.
  • Best Moment of the Week:  A semi successful trip to Target.  Did some clothing shopping and a new pair of sandals.  All was well until Noah decided to get grumpy and we had to go home.  But all in all, not that bad.
  • What I’m excited about/looking forward to: Some kind of schedule we can follow. Also the 4th!  I even have special outfits for the little man!

...and finally, a picture for the Aunties; Molly & Laura.
Noah loves you and can't wait to see you!

Two Weeks Old

Noah is two weeks old already!  What a crazy two weeks it has been.  We have been very lucky to have lots of visitors who want to see Noah.  There are so many people who love him already.  Jeff and I have gotten decent sleep considering.  He's a pretty good sleeper and at night he might sleep a couple of four hour stretches.  I never realized how well I could function with so little sleep; especially since before him I slept 10-11 hours a night.
During the day we've gotten really good at getting things done early around the house.  Cooking, cleaning, laundry, yard work. Then, when the evening comes we can still spend some quality time together...usually watching the Tigers...at least until Noah gets up again.
(Then we just cuddle with him. =)

  • How old is Noah?: 2 Weeks
  • Noah is how big?: 8lbs 5oz
  • Total weight gain since birth: 1lb
  • Sleep: 3-4 hours during the night... sleeps most of the day with lots of feeding every couple of hours.  The last couple of days though he's really been wanting to cuddle instead of sleep making him really tired after a couple of hours and making it even harder for him to sleep.
  • Milestones: He's really starting to hold his head up when he lays on our chest.  He looks around a lot and can follow our hand when we move them around his face.
  • Baby "Win" of the Week:  Noah wakes up bright and early just to pee all over himself/Dad/changing pad/dresser and doesn't even clean it up himself.  Noah 1 - M&D 0

  • What Mom misses: Still have not had my first drink and really would like to but I figured I should wait until pumping starts and feedings get further apart. Also, long stretches of sleep!
  • Weigh Progress: Down to 134, only 4lbs from starting weight! (...and sadly already under wedding weight. lol) Almost fit into most pre-pregnancy clothing, now I just need to tone up!  Can't wait till I can start Jillian Michaels again!
  • Best Moment of the Week:  Figuring out you can make a wii me for a baby! We will now track all his growth from birth!  How fun! Also, Mom wore a two piece for the first time this summer already and it wasn't even that bad! I even got a tan!
  • What I’m excited about/looking forward to: A little more activity from Noah and a little more sleep for Mom and Dad.

...and finally I leave you with cute little baby feet. =)  Lots of love from Noah!

Noahs Birth Story

We are proud to announce the birth of our son, Noah Peter born Saturday, June 8th, 2013 at 2:51am.  He was 7lb 4.9 oz and 20in long.  He's by far the cutest baby ever. =)

Here is his birth story:

I woke up on my birthday, June 7th very early to what I thought were contractions.  They were very mild, so I didn't think much of them. Jeff joked that there was no way this was the real thing because pregnant women have braxton hicks and I hadn't had any as of yet. (38w5d)  We celebrated my birthday with donuts and muffins in bed and opened up some gifts and cards.  I started some laundry and did some cleaning around the house, all while still having some mild contractions... still not really thinking much of them. We decided to go for a walk around the block when they started to get closer and then finally headed to Meijer for some last minute grocery shopping.  By the time we got done with the shopping we decided that it may had been time to call the Doctor.  My contractions were about 3-5 mins apart for the last three hours. The Dr. said to come in!
On our way in we stopped at Panera for my last meal, and while we were there we discovered they had the chocolate crossaint pastry I had been craving for the last month!  Who knew it was there all along! Darn.  So we took it for the road. =)

When we made it to the hospital we were surprised to find out we were already 5cm dilated and we were getting admitted!  All that walking around must have done something... and at this point I wasn't really in too much pain through the contractions so I was pleased and still thinking I would go without an epidural. By the time we were brought up to the delivery room and started laboring more the paint quickly increased to the point where I just had enough!  I wanted the epidural!  The last couple of contractions before it kicked it were rough, but once it did it was all pretty easy from then on.  My water broke right around the time I was fully dialated to we began to push!  I pushed for just under two hours and Noah was out!

It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.  A couple of times I did throw up but pain-wise; not that bad. Next time, I just have to make sure to get the epidural earlier.  That is for sure!

GVSU Enrichment Dinner 2013

So excited to post this.  Finally getting back to a semi-routine after having our baby!  I'll post more on that later, but just a quick update on last week Wednesday where we went to the GVSU Enrichment Dinner for the third year in a row.  It's such a fun time to get dressed up!  This year though we were pregnant which of course made the dress picking out a little more difficult.
Like last year I rented my dress from Renttherunway.com and it worked out great.  Obviously the selection of non-maternity  dresses that fit a 38 week belly was rather low, (not really their fault) but I think the end result turned out great.  I highly recommend this website!
So here is my last preggo pic at 38weeks 3days and a picture of the wonderful night!

Week 38

38 Weeks as of yesterday and even though I understand there is gonna be a human being coming out of me it still doesnt quite seem real.  I'm really looking forward to knowing what he's gonna look like and how he's gonna act. It's almost weird to be so excited about someone who you don't really even know yet.
I'm also getting some serious case of senioritis but like the work version.  I'm so ready to not be here, bored... waiting for something to happen.  I ready to be home, cuddling, feeding, changing diapers, spending good quality time with a husband and a baby boy.  It's hard to really get motivated around here.
Anyway, hopefully two more weeks is all I have to wait!

  • How far along?: 38 Weeks
  • Baby is the size of a: Pumpkin
  • Total weight gain/loss: Up 23lbs to 153. Not to shabby and feeling pretty good about it.
  • Symptoms: Heartburn sucks but other than that it's pretty good.
  • Sleep: Sleep is not great.  Lots of getting up in the middle of the night to pee. Also kind of hard to turn in bed.  Not horrible though.
  • What I miss: Beer... and knowing I wont be a8ble to tan on the beach this year... =(
  • Movement: He's all over the place.  I don't even think he bothers to sleep anymore. <---Still the same.
  • Maternity Clothes: Very comfy
  • Labor Signs: Some lower back pain but not much of anything.
  • Best Moment of the Week:  Nothing too new to be excited about.  Ready for this child to come!
  • What I’m excited about/looking forward to: Cuddling with a little boy soon! (and can I also brag I don't have any swollen limbs?!  Really excited about that!)
