With only one month left to go it's really time to get my butt into gear and get this room ready for the new baby. The last two weeks being sick really put a damper on timing and now I feel semi rushed to finish all the things like right now. Not wanting to spend tons of money on this new room, but also wanting to feel like I'm doing something special for each baby we've tried to use a lot of the same furniture we had previously. The biggest purchase really though has been a new crib since we can't quite kick Peyton out of his yet.
I'm updating the monochromatic look of Peytons room and adding orange, pops of black and a little more of a woodsy theme. This means we don't have any huge projects and will make the transition just a little bit easier. The biggest statement piece of the whole room is some bright orange blackout curtains which will also be able to move around to any of the boys' rooms as they get older.
In true last minute fashion and honestly not having time to head out and shop, I was able to get most of the pieces from Amazon, so win for me and for Amazon prime for being so amazing.

Monochromatic Baby Nursery
As I mentioned on Instagram last week, our plans for this weekend were to leave Noah with the grandparents, get a ton of stuff done around the house, and spend one last weekend together without kids before the madness of having two begins. We did a ton of outdoor work to the house. Finally got a new mower after the other one died out, planted some new grasses and flowers and mulched all the beds and the berries by the beach. With most of the nursery complete I only had a couple of things left on my list. We brought up the baby toys and organized the closet. We got the best deal ever on a MamaRoo bouncer which I have been eyeing for like forever, and set that up in the room too. We really are officially done with the exception of printing out some pictures, so this baby can come any minute now... well, maybe in a couple of weeks.

Transitioning to a Big Boy Room
So we finally did it. It was about time and Noah needed to get his butt out of a crib so we can use it in the nursery.... soo we did it. After all the worrying I did, it worked out just fine. Noah has been sleeping great from day one minus the random wake-up he had two nights ago. Even then, he just cried out for us and didn't get out of his bed.
We really talked it up for Noah for about a month before he actually slept on the crib. I had the mattress out in the nursery and had sheets on it. We read books at night on it and just played on it during the day. He really loved it and was excited to get to try it out for real so I think that really helped. Jeff and I (mostly Jeff) put his room together while he was in school one day and we let him know that it would be all ready for him when he got home that day. The first thing he did when he got home was run upstairs and check it out. Then he spent the rest of the evening testing it out and reading books.
I was a little worried the first night when I said good-night because he was definitely whiny and didn't want us to leave, but after about five minutes he conked out and that was it. He didn't wake up 'till the morning. I will say cuddling at night and reading books has been much more comfy for me though. It's nice for both of us to lay in bed together and sometimes I even dose of with him I'm so tired.
I finally took some time to take pictures of the room so here it is in all it's glory. And hoping not to have to re-decorate 'till he's in high school, right? I'll source the items bellow.

Master Bath Reveal
It's looking better and better around the house and it feels so good to get things checked of the list. The master bath was one of the easiest to finish up since we didn't have to buy much to get it in shape. A couple of bath rugs and towels and that was all.
I'm not once hundred percent in love with the tile in the shower and I wish I would have gone lighter, especially with the dark wall color which I love. We didn't make a lot of mistakes while building this house but this tile is something I wish I could have changed. Jeff loves the dark in the bathroom which I guess makes sense since it's more manly than most of the house. He talked me into keeping the dark blue mostly because I also like the color, but I'm still thinking if the tile can't be changed, which it can't, then maybe a lighter color would brighten things up.
Either way, the shower itself was everything we hoped for. We opted out of a bath for the bigger shower with two shower heads and it's really just amazing. The best part is there is enough room to take family showers which is so fun and way less work at bathtime.
At our old house we had a shower mirror/radio that I really wanted to get into but couldn't because of the terrible reception and really terrible design for choosing stations. It would take me at least three minutes just to figure out what station I was on. Luckily, Speak Stick sent us a nifty little blue tooth speaker to test out and it's working out waay better than that old radio shower. My favorite is I can finally pick whatever music I want from my phone. Weather it's a playlist or a radio station I can literally choose whatever I want and it takes no time at all.
And even though it's a reveal and most of the bathroom is done, I technically still a couple of things I would like to finish up. We need a little art work above the toilet and maybe a little plant would look cute. These air plants seem easy enough and also clean so that's a plus. But really, I should have jumped on this moss wall before we started building our house. I wonder how hard it would have been to keep up because I love the pop of color the green brings to an all white bathroom. Maybe next house.

Office Reveal
We had a great couple of days off this weekend. Jeff and I were home alone while Aunt Molly brought Noah up to Grandma and Grandpas to celebrate fathers day and so we could celebrate our five year anniversary! What a difference it makes to be alone in a house. There was peace and quiet and lots of relaxing. So many things can be accomplished without kids I tell ya! We put up a lot of pictures around the house and did some furniture shopping. We had a couch delivered that we ordered a couple months ago and things are really falling into place around the house. What we did in a day would have taken us weeks with Noah around. But the best part was just getting to spend time together, completely uninterrupted. Parents really need to do that more.
One of the things we did over the weekend was install a picture rail system for Noah's art work and put up some diplomas and such in the office. I'm happy to say that room is almost completely done and decorated. Even though our house is mostly blues and greys I wanted to bring something a little different white still keeping it light and aery feeling. Plus everything needed to be durable and function well with Noah running around. The kelly green looks great with the light blue. When I found the boxes at Ikea I went right for them and I think it was a great move!
Hop on over here to see the Latt Childrens Table Makeover post.

IKEA Hack - Childrens Latt Table
I seriously love IKEA. They never fail to have great simple pieces that you can dress up and are at a really good price. Unfortunately for me the closest one is three hours away so we always have to plan ahead of time and then hope everything fits just right in the car. Fortunately for Target they get the business Ikea deserves. We stopped by about a month ago to pick up a couple of new things for the house and one of the things on my list was the IKEA Latt Childrens' Table and Chairs. For only twenty some dollars you really can't go wrong. My plan was to do a classic IKEA hack and match the colors of our office so Noah can hang out in there while we do things on the computer.
I'll give some broad steps for anyone who's wondering how I did it but honestly, there are so many DIY's online I'm sure someone wrote a better one than me.
I took everything apart and painted it white. It only took one sample size of paint to do the job so that was nice. Once everything was dry we put a clear coat on top to make it shiny. Good idea but lesson learned for next time, make sure it's really thin because it has a slight yellow tint otherwise. We sanded down some of the yellowish part and then re did it no problem.
For the top of the table I bought some wrapping paper and attached it with a spray adhesive and then on top of that some contact paper. You can find it anywhere really. I bought mine at Target. That's of course after spending at least a good 40 minutes walking up and down the craft isles looking with no luck. It was in the kitchen area next to the liners. ...just FYI. Dangit. #willnevergetthattimeback
For the seats, I bought some one inch foam pads and covered them in fabric with hot glue and then attached them to the seats. You'll need some nice matching ribbon on the sides to cover up and weird folds but it took about thirty minutes and this project in general wasn't all that hard.
When all your pieces are ready just re-assemble! That really does sound much easier then it was though. I spent at least an hour muscling pieces in. The little amount of paper, fabric or paint on the pieces made it pretty difficult to put back together. I suppose the bright side of that was that was really the worst part of the whole project.
Noah loves it and that's all that matters. Ok, and it matches the office. That makes me happy so that's really what's important. =)

Memorial Day Weekend
Can we even say weekend when I was on vacation for five days? Maybe week? ...and the best part is that I'm back at work just today and then back off for three more days. That's what summer should be all about, right?
This weekend there was some good progress on the house. We had the concrete laid out and the beach put in just in time to enjoy the nice weather. We got some planters full of flowers for the deck and the front port and a big pot of raspberries for the patio. We spent lots of time outside when it wasn't raining and Noah is loving going on walks right now which is so nice.
On the downside I was still dealing from the pain of my neck injury of last week and then I scratched my cornea a couple of days ago so I was mending half the time while Jeff took care of Noah. To top it off I was walking through Meijer yesterday and out of nowhere slid (on nothing) and fell right on my knee and I have the biggest bruise known to man. Anyone feel like after kids they started getting hurt/injured/clumsy all the time? Could be the lack of sleep or forgetting to eat enough but seriously, I've got to get it together here!
We finished out the long weekend with a Memorial day walk to GVSU. It's so crazy to see the campus so empty on a holiday. We got some great pictures of Noah and he got to run around anywhere he liked.
We've got more relaxing on the way this weekend as well as a fun wedding shower and hopefully some more good weather for the pool/beach. I'm hoping to finish up a couple of house projects and photograph the house now that it's starting to look more put together. I've got a major cleaning day ahead of me, lots of laundry and bathroom/kitchen cleaning so of course we'll have another busy and fast weekend pass us by!

Easter Bunny and Weekend Activities
It was Noah and I again for the last couple of days and therefore my lack of blog updates. Kids keep you busy for sure and when I did have down time I took advantage by napping or catching up on some Real Housewives. Jeff left us Thursday through Saturday and Noah and I tried to keep busy to pass the time as quickly as possible. We met some friends at the mall on Thursday for some reading time at Barnes & Noble. We stopped by to see the Easter bunny, which after the tragedy of Santa I thought we would admire from afar. He did seem pretty intrigued though so maybe next year we'll stop by and say hi.
To let of some steam we played in the mall play place for the first time. And let me tell you what total chaos that is! I've never been so scared for Noahs safety his entire life then in that hour. The kids are running over and into each other non stop with no regard to what anyone else is doing. The slides are just accidents waiting to happen and I've never seen so many kids fall over and over again. But the best part, I didn't see one child cry. Everyone was so excited and happy they didn't even care they were being trampled. Noah had a great time and was super upset when we left but we made up with a group lunch date to Panera and that was enough to make up for leaving. At least to me.
Friday, we spent most of the day packing up loads in the car and moving them to the new house. Mostly everything from the closets made it over and a couple of kitchen things. Noah was kind enough to be a great child and hang out watching the landscaper level the yard and I walked in and out from the car a million times.
By the end of the day on Friday both Noah and I started to get sick. Maybe from all the hard work, but most likely from the stupid mall. We both hit the couch as soon as we got home and got to sleep pretty early. Saturday we lounged all day waiting for daddy to come home so we could snuggle. And like that, the weekend was over.
This week will go super fast too as we look forward to moving day this weekend. Today, we close on the sale of our current house and weather we like it of not we'll have seven days to get all of our junk out before the other family moves in. Thursday and Friday, Jeff and I will slowly move all the little stuff we can put in our cars into the new house and although I do have to work on Saturday, all of the big things will be moving in the U-Haul then. Sunday we'll be celebrating Easter and I'm sure I'll get no sleep as I spend every waking moment trying to organize and put away our entire life. Noah's room will be the first one to get settled and hopefully by the end of the week the rest of the house will take shape.

Custom Nursery Closet
Now that the nursery is done I want to take pictures to post here but I haven't yet gotten around to it yet so I figured I would post the closet instead since that's all I have done. I will say I searched Pinterest up and down trying to find a custom closet that wasn't super expensive to make. It took a long time but I finally found one I liked. I took inspiration from "David + Jen" 's nursery. I would for sure take a look closely at how did they it. We did not, and afterwards I wished I would because then I would have found out why their closet turned out with much bigger shelves than ours. (dang it!)
(They used two shelving units and cut one of them up for shelves)
I took pictures from both sides. Jeff had a great idea to only have one shelf on one side so we could fit the bigger items like the stroller and I would say it turned out wonderfully. We also have plenty of room for lots of hanging items. You can see I barely have one bar filled up let alone all three.
So, there it is! A closet already full of diapers!
What we bought:

LACK shelf x3 - LINK

New Office Makeover
We've been wanting to clear up the upstairs bedroom for a while now, almost a year now after our first miscarriage, just in case we get pregnant again. =) I finally got Jeff to take me to IKEA and buy our new office furniture, and after one good morning of hard work we got it all put back together and decorated in the empty part of the basement.
We moved to a new house and took our office furniture with us!

My favorite part of the office are the clear desk chairs! They are so modern and so me! Everything is super organized just the way I like it! I still even have room for all my sewing items and plenty of space to sew.
Check out the before pictures.
